BELMONT, N.C. - Sylvan Learning has opened its newest franchise location in Belmont, North Carolina at 140B N. Main St. near the Piccolo Antique Mall.
Sylvan Learning Belmont is the second family owned and locally operated center of Brandi Rhodes and her parents Joe and Angela Carpenter. Before becoming a franchise owner, Rhodes embarked on her journey with Sylvan in 2012 as an upper-level math teacher, ultimately climbing the ranks to become the Center Director of the Year in 2021.
Angela is a full-time nurse, and Joe is a retired U.S. Army Veteran who currently works for USPS. They are partners in the two centers and lend their time and expertise to the businesses. Their first location is in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
“It’s a joy to run these centers with my parents and to now be able to serve families in the Belmont community,” said Rhodes. “Our mission is not just about achieving academic success, it's about witnessing the lightbulb moment for each student to grow their confidence in the classroom. A huge learning deficit has emerged post-pandemic, and we’re dedicated to bridging the gap across all subject matters.”
Sylvan Learning has been producing proven results for over four decades. Now, it serves as a key resource for students as they work to recover from pandemic-related learning loss. Sylvan’s proven tutoring approach and advanced technology-based curriculum are designed to give each student a personalized, trackable plan to achieve their educational goals.
“We’re proud to open our doors in Belmont and provide a one-stop, all-subject resource to support students through every stage of their academic journey,” said John McAuliffe, CEO of Sylvan. “Whether a student needs help catching up or advancing their skillset, Sylvan is here to help, and there is no one better to lead this center than Brandi, Joe and Angela.”
